CDBA hosted its first Mississippi Delta bus tour and rural housing roundtable: "Understanding the Challenges and Opportunities in the Mississippi Delta." Over 70 people representing the Federal Housing Finance Agency, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and local CDFI banks and housing associations were in attendance. The bus tour included site visits of highly distressed communities in the Delta, LIHTC neighborhoods, new single family and multifamily housing solutions, a manufactured housing production facility, rehabilitated historical apartment complexes, and more.
On Monday, October 8th, CDBA and First Eagle Bank organized a regional CDFI Banker gathering in Chicago before the annual OFN Conference. The event was an exciting opportunity for locals to network with mission-driven banks from around the country and to engage on hot topics in the community development banking sector in the areas of policy, best practices, impact measurement.
On the bright and sunny morning of October 12th, CDBA took the Hill for a ride.
CDBA, in collaboration with City First Bank and Industrial Bank, hosted its first ever bus tour for Congressional staff. Armed with pamphlets, schedules, and cameras, the CDBA team loaded a bus of Congressional staffers who sit on the Appropriations and Banking Committees. CDBA knows that CDFI banks do crucially important work in the DC area, and today they were going to show staffers the proof.
On the morning of Friday, August 24th, CDBA and The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago were proud to host the members of Chicago's CDFI banker community for a special roundtable event with guest speakers and collaborative discussion. The program included a presentation on Opportunity Zones by The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning and also a talk on sources of capital for CDFI banks by the Federal Reserve Bank's CDPS division.
