We are seeking a high energy and dynamic candidate for the position of Director of Programs and Membership. The Director will advance our membership, programmatic, and education agenda. The position reports to the Chief Public Policy Officer and works with all members of the team. This position is a full-time 40 hour per week opportunity.

The Organization:

The Community Development Bankers Association (CDBA) is the voice and champion for FDIC-certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) banks and thrifts. Our members are mission-focused financial institutions that provide lending, financial services, and technical assistance in disinvested urban, rural, and Native American communities across the United States. We support the CDFI and mission-focused banking sector through public policy advocacy, education, best practices, impact measurement, and peer networking. 

CDBA is managed under an administrative agreement with Partners for the Common Good (PCG), also known as Partners. The Director of Programs and Membership will be an employee of Partners, but assigned to CDBA duties.

Partners operates the following entities:

  • PCG Loan Fund (PCG) – PCG is a national CDFI lending network with local impact focused on affordable housing and community facilities finance. www.pcgloanfund.org;
  • Community Development Bankers Association -- CDBA is the national trade association for the CDFI, MDI and mission focused banking sector and advocates for the industry and communities they serve, www.cdbanks.org;
  • CapNexus – is a community development finance and industry networking and information sharing platform www.capnexus.org

Our work is pioneering in its creation of new tools and infrastructure for community development finance organizations to manage portfolios and grow their scale and impact.

PCG’s office and the position is located in Washington DC. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new programs and initiatives that advance the mission-focused banking sector and build their capacity to be agents of change in their communities.
  • Identify and develop new program opportunities and/or products and services.
  • Cultivate new members and engage current members in CDBA programming.
  • Collaborate on the collection, analysis and dissemination of impact data to illustrate the power of CDFI banks, including compiling and disseminating research, data, and written materials on the industry to support advocacy efforts
  • Design, plan and manage in-person and virtual educational events designed to advance community development finance and best practices in promoting access to capital and financial services in low- and moderate-income communities, communities of color, and un- and underbanked populations. These will include an annual conference in Washington DC, occasional in-person member events across the US, and approximately 2-3 webinars per month on banking and community development finance related topics.
  • Collaborate on grant writing and reporting; research foundation resources that align with CDBA goals
  • Execute special projects and provide general support to the membership
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years direct experience with the internal operations and policy environment of bank community-focused financial institutions
  • Passion for community development and improving the lives of people in communities traditionally left out of the financial mainstream
  • A proactive self-starter with excellent time management and organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
  • Strong program planning and event management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication, networking, relationship management, and customer service skills
  • Knowledge or experience with impact metrics and management is a plus
  • Strong people and teamwork skills
  • Experience using Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) is a plus

Programs and Membership Associate - Community Development Bankers Association

The Associate supports member education, programming and impact analysis functions and will also support external communications with members and external stakeholders, and the news media. The position reports to the Chief Public Policy Officer and will engage with team members at all levels.

Our members are mission-focused financial institutions that provide lending, financial services, and technical assistance in disinvested urban, rural, and Native American communities across the United States. We support the CDFI and mission-focused banking sector through public policy advocacy, education, best practices, impact measurement, and peer networking. 

Primary Duties:

  • Support and participate in event planning for conferences, webinars, and other events, including conference calls, marketing, speaker engagement, and logistics
  • Support membership outreach and engagement efforts
  • Plan, film, edit and produce short videos hat highlight the mission-driven lending case studies
  • Create compelling marketing and advocacy materials using the Adobe Creative Cloud software suite.
  • Write content for website, bi-weekly newsletters, and other publications.
  • Build, maintain, and utilize Salesforce database of membership contacts.
  • Manage CDBA’s social media accounts.
  • Collaborate with Public Policy Associate to manage CDBA PolicyMap data mapping platform for member banks.
  • Support initiatives to collect success stories and data from member banks and stakeholders.
  • Assist Director of Programs and Membership in communications and record keeping

Qualifications:

This position requires a  Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Communications or related field, such as Public Policy, Political Science, Urban Studies, Economics, or Business and ideally 2-4 years of experience in a communications capacity. Exposure and/or experience in project management and/or event planning is welcomed. Public relations experience is valued. 

  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to network, build relationship and display superior customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, multifaceted environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline sensitive environment.
  • Must have a strong interest in community development and/or financial services
  • A proactive self-starter with excellent time management, organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Photography and/or video editing and production skills along with the ability to design impact storytelling in video, print and digital format.
  • Must possess strong technical skills with Microsoft Office and other tools such as Adobe
  • Experience with film/video is a requirement

Lending and Compliance Associate - Partners for the Common Good

Founded in 2000, Partners’ created the CDFI industry’s first wholesale loan participation network that today has partnered with 50+ CDFIs in Washington, DC and 38 states, currently originates $18-20 million in participation transactions annually, and currently has an outstanding portfolio of nearly $50 million. Partners also manages $50 million Economic Justice Partnership Fund (EJPF), an innovative off-balance sheet facility to expand Partners’ product offerings to the CDFI community, participates as a community development entity (CDE) allocating New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) and  provides contract servicing, monitoring, and advisory services for impact-focused external portfolios.

Major Responsibilities:

The Lending and Compliance Associate will assist with servicing and compliance for Partners’  growing lending, New Markets Tax Credits portfolio, and an off balance sheet fund (Economic Justice Partnership Fund). This role will also provide additional support to portfolio management.  This position reports to the Director of Portfolio Management and will work closely with both the accounting and lending teams.  Partners works on a hybrid schedule (combination in-office and remote). 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Input transactions into and maintain loan system (Portfol) and generate monthly portfolio reports
  • Input payments for  contract servicing client(s)
  • Generate monthly invoices and manage payments and disbursements from lending partners and borrowers; advise Director of Portfolio Management of any potential problem areas and propose solutions
  • Manage borrower covenant compliance and ensure timely receipt of required financial reporting
  • Manage NMTC compliance and quarterly invoicing
  • Manage compliance for the off balance sheet EJP Fund. Maintain communication with investors in the fund
  • Assist lending team with loan file audits
  • Work to further develop and evolve  automated systems (currently Salesforce)
  • Collaborate with internal staff to ensure timely reporting to investors and stakeholders
  • Coordinate with the Impact and Research Manager to collect and analyze data (lending and impact) to contribute to funding applications, reports, and other projects as needed
  • Take minutes for board meetings, credit committee meetings, and other committee meetings
  • Use the CDFI Fund’s AMIS system to input information for grant applications and required reporting
  • Coordinate with the accounting team to identify discrepancies between systems and assist with the annual audit.
  • Assist with other portfolio management, compliance, and analytical functions as needed 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field. This position requires one (1) to three (3) years of experience in financial services, accounting, loan servicing, compliance, or reporting with a strong  interest in the CDFI Industry. Experience in the CDFI field, banking, or real estate development related to accounting or lending functions is a strong plus.
  • Must possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with keen attention to detail. 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. 
  • Must possess strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products in particular Excel.  Individual with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, such as business or finance is highly desired.
  • Willingness to work from Partners’ physical office for up to three days each week.  This is not a fully remote position.

Director of Marketing and Communications - Partners for the Common Good

We are seeking a Director of Marketing and Communications to work across all of our entities (Partners), including PCG Loan Fund, the Community Development Bankers Association, and CapNexus. Reporting to the Chief of Investments & Impact, the Director will lead Marketing, Branding, Communications, as well as Public and Community Relations to meet strategic planning goals. This role will also work closely with the Chief of Policy Development and will have a direct report. Partners is currently working in a hybrid structure.

Key Responsibilities:
• Enhance Partner's visibility among its key stakeholders through the development of branding, marketing and communication strategies for all of the organizations' business lines.
• Lead in the coordination of the loan funds participation in conferences.
• Develop and implement a strategic and holistic marketing plan across Partner brands, product lines, and activities, including campaign creation and management.
• Manage and implement communication strategies to position Partners as a leader in the industry, including social media and news media outlets.
• In collaboration with the CIIO, develop relationships with key stakeholders that advance the strategic goals and enhancement of brand, earned revenue, sustainability, and goal achievement.
• Lead efforts to rebrand and reposition the organization and its business lines to the marketplace.
• Continuously identify and analyze market challenges/opportunities and engage in on-going refinement and development of products and services across the organization to respond to market demand.
• Participate in business and operations planning, goal setting, and development and implementation of strategies that enhance Partners program outcomes, earned revenue and sustainability.
• Work in partnership with the Director of Innovation to: (1) ensure a successful refresh and relaunch of the PCG, CDBA and CapNexus websites (2) develop CapNexus as an industry networking, information sharing, and thought leadership platform; and (3) provide marketing support to cultivate registered users, sponsors, content and listings that facilitate CapNexus's platform expansion.
• Develop an overall strategy for social media within the organization, with existing and/or new tools.
• Lead the production of all marketing and outreach materials to support fundraising, programmatic and other initiatives for Partners, including targeted mailings, press releases and advertising
• Lead digital marketing, branding, communications efforts; and impact storytelling efforts, to include data analytics reporting.
• Supervise and/or participate in the development of video storytelling products.
• Lead graphic design for projects such as corporate and product one-sheets, annual reports, website, fliers, invites, banners, social media posts that highlight the mission-driven lending case studies.
• Work with external partners for story idea, podcasts and webinars.
Requirements:
PCG seeks a seasoned professional with an entrepreneurial spirit, strong commitment to mission, and the following skills and experience:
• Bachelor's (required) and/or Master's Degree (preferred) in marketing, communications, or a related field.
• Five to 10 years of demonstrated successful experience leading marketing, branding, and communications efforts, including emerging and traditional media.
• Robust knowledge of social media, digital content systems management, marketing, advertising, and media relations.
• Strong writing skills are an imperative; experience with grant and proposal writing are a strong plus.
• Demonstrated successful experience writing press releases, making presentations and negotiating with media.
• Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and analytical skills and demonstrate the ability to solve problems.
• Proven ability to deal effectively, cooperatively, and tactfully to provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
• Strategic thinker with an exceptional ability to build relationships with external parties.
• A proactive self-starter with the ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, and be flexible.
